About the Company:

We are a small hydraulics engineering company located in the Northern suburbs, who deal in the sales and services of hydraulic equipment across greater Melbourne, & interstate, specializing in the maintenance, installation, and supply of new systems across many industries.

We have several key products as can be seen on our web site.

We market these as individual products or part of specifically designed packages for specific applications. Some of these projects we take rite through to manufacture, install and commissioning stage of a project.

 

Scope of Role:

An immediate opportunity has arisen for a driven mechanical engineer to join the team as we look to improve our engineering team.

Operating hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm from Monday – Friday. And some after hours work as required, on weekend projects. As you will be required to do work external to our office on occasions these hours may vary slightly from time to time.

 

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 

  • The key role is to support the sales team and talk to clients with the view of obtaining sales. (there would be some set budgets)
  • Design and implement cost effective products, components and equipment modification to help improve safety and production systems for manufacturing, transport and construction industries.
  • Develop project specification and use new materials, technologies capacities and lay out of the plant
  • Managing or organizing people and projects resources and the delivery of materials by using engineering principle and techniques
  • Monitor and commission plant systems
  • Carrying out regular inspections at the workplace
  • Assisting clients with identifying and sourcing essential products in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with sales teams to provide appropriate product recommendations and post-sale technical support.
    • Preparing quotes and sales presentations
    • Providing appropriate technical solutions
    • Support business marketing by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events as required
  • Identifying new business and alternative channel opportunities
  • Maintain and expand existing CAD library following company standard and procedures.
  • Placing orders and helping with product and material procurement
  • Supervising of work through the workshop and on site
  • Helping to manage the business, production of content for marketing reasons, & assistance with other managerial issues.
  • Assist with project design
  • Supervise some workshop activities
  • Assist with sales and marketing as required.

This position can be fast paced and will offer a great variety of work and challenge you every day you come to work.

 

Skills Required:

  • Understanding of types of hydraulic systems, and componentry.
  • The ability to draw, read and understand hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, concepts and systems.
  • Ability to design and document hydraulic and pneumatic systems on a range of industrial projects
  • Assemble and provide relevant information and drawings for quotations for tenders accordingly.
  • Hands on experience troubleshooting hydraulic systems.

  • Maintain a level of competency and knowledge in Hydraulic system applications and internal systems including:
    • SQL and Access Databases
    • Outlook
    • Microsoft Office 365
    • Solid Works
    • Auto Cad
    • Basic Photoshop

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Degree in Mechanical Engineering and probably certified as a professional engineer by Engineering Australia.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer
  • Minimum of 2 years in a continuous sales or sales support role. (prefer if these to requirements have been done concurrently)
  • Proven knowledge and experience working within a technical design focused Fluid power engineering role
  • Solid understanding of current fluid power regulation and all applicable Codes and Standards
  • Well-developed MS Office skills
  • Excellent spoken English, and written communication skills. (As your communications skills are vital to this role, English will probably be your first language.

  • The ability to think creatively and provide solutions

We expect that you would reside within easy traveling distance to the Melbourne Northern suburbs.
